PHYSICAL AND ABSTRACT WALLS

This page is probably unimportant – and it's still being developed.

Parent page : Display Rituals

Modern house walls have doors which lock, and we confirm our territory, posessions and physical safety with laws.

I'm curious about if there are any deeper connections, in the idea of walls and privacy. This is 'my own space' to develop ideas. At present it hardly seems important for the main message on this site.

The Privacy of my own Room

In an overpopulated world material walls offer privacy. Walls are essential in cold climates and give us security. But what exactly is this privacy which other animals don't have?

I'm puzzled – my own space – maybe it's because of crowded over population, but it's only really evident in the Western world. Indians and Mexicans often still live and sleep in a family room.

But in England and 'first world' countries every child has their own room. It's felt as necessary for the development of the individual.

In my own room i can relax the display, i feel safe, i can also practice the next display... and i will write more as ideas occur.

Freedom vs. Security / Being Alive and Safe

The abstract walls we have built in our modern culture lead to a conflict between freedom and security.

Security in jobs or relationships, often leads to feelings of being in a prison.

Moments of being in love, feeling deeply happy and safe, can develop into security with feelings of restriction or boredom.

To avoid stagnation we have to get a thrill by pushing boundaries, breaking rules – having affairs – sky diving – going out of the comfort zone, even breaking the law, anything to make you feel alive.

And something like this was obviously going to happen, ever since we started exclusively focusing.

In a life lived by focusing, being safe and feeling alive don't go together.

All other animals use their panaral senses. The panaral experience is the natural method of feeling and actually being safe and alive at the same time.
